Mojiworks AI Ethics Policy

v1.1.0 - November 2025

1. Purpose and Scope

This policy defines how Mojiworks Limited (“Mojiworks”) uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies responsibly across all areas of our work, including research, game development, live operations, and internal tooling.

It applies to all employees, contractors, and partners who design, develop, or deploy systems or content that incorporate AI.

Our objective is to ensure that all AI use at Mojiworks is transparent, fair, and designed for the benefit of players, creators, and society.

2. Our Principles

Mojiworks believes AI should empower people — expanding what they can create and experience — rather than replace them.

These principles guide every decision about the design, selection, and application of AI systems.

2.1 Enable the previously impossible

AI is used to extend human capability, not to automate away creativity.

We apply AI to explore ideas, simulate large-scale systems, and unlock experiences that could not previously exist.

2.2 Human creativity at the centre

AI assists and amplifies the work of artists, designers, and engineers.

It is never used to remove human authorship, replace creative roles, or generate complete projects without meaningful human direction and review.

2.3 Licensed and transparent training

Mojiworks works only with partners who state that their models are trained on responsibly sourced data.

We acknowledge that full transparency about training data is not always possible, and we continue to push for clearer disclosure, licensing, and attribution standards across the AI industry.

2.4 Environmental responsibility

We recognise the environmental cost of large-scale computation.

Energy use arising from AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference is measured where data are available, minimised through efficiency, and offset where practical.

We support the development of open metrics and reporting frameworks for AI sustainability.

2.5 Safety and content integrity

All AI systems used in our games and workflows must include safeguards against bias, misinformation, and harmful output.

Outputs are subject to human review and automated checks to maintain quality and safety.

2.6 Transparency and accountability

Players and partners should be able to understand where and how AI is used in our products.

We publish clear information about AI-driven features and maintain an accessible contact point for questions or concerns.

3. How We Use AI

3.1 During development

AI tools are used to support, not substitute for, human work. Typical uses include:

  • Prototyping and concept exploration.

  • Code and design assistance (e.g., GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT Codex).

  • Ideation and iteration on dialogue, names, or scenarios.

All outputs are reviewed and edited by human team members before inclusion in any product.

3.2 In our games and simulations

Mojiworks titles may include AI systems that operate at runtime to simulate or respond to player activity, for example:

  • Generative simulation engines modelling towns, communities, or environments.

  • Natural-language systems interpreting player proposals or dialogue.

  • Procedural text or data generation for variety and depth.

These systems are always deployed with human oversight and quality controls.

3.3 Visual and art generation

AI-assisted art may be used to support exploration, iteration, or inspiration.

Final in-game and promotional artwork is created, directed, or approved by Mojiworks artists.

AI is used to augment, not replace, professional artistry.

4. Models and Providers

Mojiworks currently uses the following Generative AI models and services.

We assess each provider’s stated ethical framework, data policies, and transparency reports, and we treat this alignment as an ongoing commitment — not a guarantee of perfection.

Google LLC

Models: Gemini 2.5 Pro · Gemini 2.5 Flash · Gemini 2.5 Lite

References: Google AI Principles · Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy

Google’s principles emphasise human benefit, fairness, and accountability.

Mojiworks recognises continuing debate around training-data provenance and energy usage and monitors Google’s transparency updates to ensure our own practices remain consistent with our ethical goals.

OpenAI LP

Models: ChatGPT 5 · ChatGPT 4.1 · ChatGPT Codex

References: OpenAI Usage Policies · OpenAI Terms of Use

OpenAI reports that its models use a mixture of licensed data, human-generated data, and publicly available content.

Mojiworks acknowledges current limits on public visibility into these sources and treats its use as provisional, subject to review as greater disclosure becomes available.

When using any third-party AI system, Mojiworks reviews each provider’s published ethics framework, data policy, and security measures.

We seek alignment with our own standards but accept that complete certainty is not always achievable.

Where information gaps exist, we document them and mitigate risk through oversight and human control.

5. Compliance and Platform Policies

Mojiworks complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and platform-specific rules governing AI use, including:

  • Reddit’s Developer Guidelines for Large Language Models in Devvit Apps

  • Reddit’s Public Content Policy

  • GDPR and UK Data Protection Act

  • Emerging AI governance frameworks such as the EU AI Act and OECD AI Principles

6. Governance and Review

6.1 Responsibility

The CEO of Mojiworks retains overall accountability for compliance with this policy.

A designated Responsible AI Lead oversees implementation, reporting, and training across teams.

6.2 Review

This policy is reviewed at least quarterly, or sooner if there are significant changes in law, technology, or our practices.

Updates are published on the Mojiworks website.

6.3 Reporting concerns

Questions or concerns about Mojiworks’ use of AI can be sent to hello@mojiworks.com.

All reports are reviewed promptly, and responses or corrective actions are documented.

7. Statement from Leadership

“AI can be transformative when it amplifies human creativity, not replaces it.”

— Matthew Wiggins, CEO of Mojiworks

Mojiworks is committed to continual improvement in responsible AI practice.

We understand that no commercial AI system is entirely free from ethical uncertainty, and we will keep assessing each provider and workflow against our principles.

Our goal is to advance the creative potential of AI while maintaining the trust of our players, partners, and the wider community.
