Last week we announced that Chef Showdown, our first game for the nascent Discord Activities platform, hit one million new players over launch weekend. We’re now at more than 3 million lifetime players.
That’s the moment we could say we’re going all-in on games for Discord.
Discord has been kind of a big deal for a while, and you probably know it as a place for friends to hang out and communities to flourish.
So why now?
Activities. This is the platform we’ve been working on with Discord for a while: it enables us to bring native-quality games to life by using the latest web technologies, right within Discord on mobile & desktop.
We believe that Activities will be massive - the kind of full-featured platform for social play that we dreamed of when we first started Mojiworks.
Collaborating with Discord, and seeing the Activities platform evolve so much in it’s first year, has given us the confidence that together we can go much, much further.
We aim to be the leader of games on Discord by using our deep experience of high-quality games & social design, to craft games that are beloved for their ability to strengthen & grow friendships. Games that are played together for years, by millions.
We’re focusing all our energy - and the unique knowledge from our journey so far - into this.
The first step on that journey is Chef Showdown, and we’re so gratified with the response it’s got from players. The next steps will be even bigger.
